Roll Former Operator

Job Description

The Post Roll Former Operator is responsible for properly and safely setting dies in the presses and roll former and installing guards that are OSHA compliant.

 The Post Roll Former Operator will:

1) Obtain job assignments and specific instructions from the supervisor.

2) Set-up presses and roll former for production, by installing and adjusting required dies. Lockout/Tagout procedures will be followed when setting or removing dies or making adjustments. Each machine has its own lockout procedure.

3) Verify if correct coil has been selected for each job.

4) Check the first piece to print specifications on the inspection form and have Quality or your supervisor verify the part is to print. Make adjustments if needed.

5) Check to see if all the permanent guarding is secure, solid, and in-place. All guards must be OSHA compliant.

6) Have the Supervisor or Safety Director check the part openings in the guards with the orange pinch point guard measuring tool to see if the permanent guard opening is compliant with OSHA standards.

7) Run the roll former line in a safe and productive manner.

8) Check the production order for each job, making sure the correct amount, gauge thickness, post type, and size are being made.         

9) Check for post in stock side of post area that can be applied to job being ran. Pull any post from stock and apply them to the production run. Fill the bundles as needed.

10) Completes bundles will have an 18” wood board banded to the bottom on each end of the bundle. Tag the bundle legibly with the Order Number, Part Number, Quantity, Initials and date. With a paint marker also, write on the post the Order Number, Part Number, and Quantity.

11) Place the completed bundle in the post area.

12) Do first quality inspections for each job ran and record.

13) Fully fill out production reports.

 

Note: Roll Form Operators MUST have steel-toed shoes. All other safety equipment will be provided.
